Christine "Monson" Beaulieu
b. September 10, 2016
Christine (Monson) Beaulieu, 67, passed away September 10, 2016 in Olympia, Washington.
Christy graduated from Olympia High School in 1967, attended Pacific Lutheran University, and graduated with a BA in Education from Arizona State University in 1971. She earned a Master’s Degree in Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley College in 1991. She taught elementary school for 32 years, most of those years in the North Thurston Public Schools, mainly at Evergreen Forest Elementary.
Christy married Joseph Beaulieu on August 22, 1987 at Tumwater Falls in Olympia, Washington.
Christy was a loving, caring, loyal, dedicated and devoted mother, wife, friend and educator of children. She was a violinist in the Olympia Orchestra for many years. She was in the Strolling Strings at Olympia High and Lakefair Queen in 1967. She liked to cook, winning many ribbons at the Thurston County Fair. She was avid reader and a prolific writer.
As an exceptionally creative teacher, she made school fun for her students. Christy was extremely sensitive to the needs of each student and worked to help those students with those needs. She was active in all of her daughter’s activities, including accompanying their Timberline High School dance team to Nationals in Orlando two years in a row! Christy also organized all the music that happened along the course for the first ever Women’s Marathon Trials in 1984. She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
Christy is survived by her husband, Joseph Beaulieu; daughter, Molly Hill and her husband, Derek Hill; grandchildren, Michael Joseph Hill and Erin Hill; and sister, Carolyn Monson Zemetra. She was predeceased by her parents, Don and Marie Monson.
