Obituary for Enrique Morales Perez
Enrique Morales Perez, born on December 13, 1925, in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 100. He dedicated his life to hard work and community engagement, exemplifying loyalty, kindness, and generosity in all his endeavors.
"When Enrique arrived in Olympia 70 years ago began his career at the Lacey Mushroom Farm, a place where he not only found a job he loved but also a second family in the colleagues he worked alongside. This early work ethic was matched by a lifelong enthusiasm for vehicles. From his teenage years until the very end, he was a true craftsman at heart—happiest when he was purchasing, restoring, and finding new homes for the cars and trucks he so passionately cared for."
A man of quiet strength and incredible discipline, Enrique’s professional life was anchored by a significant and distinguished tenure with the Union Pacific Railroad. Even after his long career on the rails, his work was far from over. Enrique devoted much of his life to his passion for cattle farming, a labor of love that he maintained with awe-inspiring stamina. Well into his late nineties, Enrique continued to manage his herd with a level of commitment that most men half his age could only admire. For decades, he drove nearly 100 miles round trip every single day to feed and check on his cattle, a ritual he faithfully performed until he was just shy of 100 years old. Known to all as a man who never rushed, Enrique possessed a profound patience that guided every aspect of his life. He understood that good things took time—whether it was the slow growth of his cattle or the steady progress of a long career. He met every challenge with a calm, unhurried spirit that served as a beacon to his family and friends.
His work ethic served as an inspiration to those around him, reflecting his commitment not only to his trade but also to his family and community.
He was a loving father to his sons, Henry Morales Jr. and Steve Morales, and his late daughter Lucy Morales. He is also survived by seven cherished grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward his legacy of hope, wellness, and joy. Enrique was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kate Morales, in 2007, a loss that profoundly touched his life.
Enrique was a vibrant presence in his neighborhood, known for his friendly demeanor and caring nature. He took great pride in his social involvement and was a constant source of support and encouragement to those around him. His legacy of nurturing relationships and spreading kindness will resonate with all who had the privilege to know him.
A graveside service will be held at Mills & Mills; details are forthcoming. The family extends their gratitude for the overwhelming support and condolences during this time of mourning.
As we remember Enrique, let us celebrate a life marked by hard work, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to spreading joy and hope within his community. His spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
