John Wesley Wilson

Dr. John Wesley Wilson, age 72, passed away on May 13, 2014 in Lakewood, Washington, due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born to James Arthur and Mary Anna (Feiler) Wilson on September 10, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland. An eight-year resident of Olympia, Washington, John also lived in St. George, Utah (2001-2006), Reno, Nevada (1975-2001), and Baltimore (1941-1975). John attended Catonsville High School in Maryland, graduating in 1959, and went on to attend and graduate from the University of Maryland as a Doctor of Pharmacy in 1963, and then Doctor of Medicine in 1969. He began work as a drug store clerk, became a pharmacist in 1963, and then practiced Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine from 1969 to 2000, most substantially at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno. John loved landscape and nature photography, reading fiction and history, writing essays, fine dining, hiking, skiing, target shooting, and traveling. He was a member of the American Medical Association. One of John’s favorite sayings was, “He who dies with the most toys, wins!” and he spent what he earned on the events, hobbies and people he loved, enjoying the finer things in life. He is survived by sons, Michael (Katy) Everett Wilson of Olympia, and James (Mei) Wilson of Redmond, Washington; four grandchildren; sisters, Helen A. Wilson of St. George, and Mary Frances Wilson of Baltimore; stepchildren, Courtney Hamilton of San Antonio, Texas, and Hunter Hamilton of Los Angeles, California; and former wives, Callie Woods of Reno and Judy Wilson of Olympia.
