Joseph Rolan Bowman

Jul 2, 1936 — Apr 1, 2026

Joseph Rolan Bowman, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 1, 2026, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 89. Born on July 2, 1936, in Deadwood, South Dakota, he was the son of Lyle Bowman and Anna Leona Keegan. Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie-Therese Renevot, whom he married on July 5, 1958, and who departed this life on January 5, 2024.

Joseph’s educational journey led him to graduate from Lead High School in 1955. Following his graduation, he served honorably in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958, remaining in the reserves until 1962. His dedication and commitment during these formative years were a testament to his character.

A career in the insurance industry followed, where Joseph worked for Prudential and New England Insurance companies, establishing a reputation for reliability and professionalism. After retiring, he brought his leadership and management skills to a mini storage facility in Silverdale, Washington, where he continued to serve his community.

Joseph was a man of many passions; he was an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast who relished the beauty of nature and often shared these experiences with his family. His ability to engage others with his stories and love for the outdoors created lasting memories for his children and grandchildren.

Joseph leaves behind his son, Loran Patrick Bowman of Silverdale, Washington, and his daughters, Cherril Marie Bowman of Olympia, Washington, and Daphne Lynn Valentine of Boise, Idaho, along with three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren—each of whom he adored. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Lloyd, Leslie, Wilbur, Charlotte, and Louise.

His family and friends will remember Joseph not only for his accomplishments and dedication but also for the warmth and kindness he shared throughout his life.

In this time of mourning and remembrance, we honor Joseph Rolan Bowman—a man who cherished his family and lived his life with joy, integrity, and a spirit that inspired those around him. May he rest in peace.
