Linda Melton passed away at home Saturday, September 4th after a long battle with cancer. She was born on May 9th, 1943 in Tacoma, Washington, the first born daughter of Phyllis & Gene Skinner. Linda grew up in Snohomish, Washington, then attended college at Central Washington State University where she graduated with honors & multiple degrees in education. She spent most of her teaching career at South Bay Elementary in the North Thurston School District until her retirement in June 2000.
Linda is survived by her husband Bill, two daughters; Megan Melton & Andrea Caldwell; three grandchildren; Amanda, Andrew & Alex Vincent; two sisters; Barbara Olson & Susan Palicte & numerous nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers, it is kindly suggested a donation be made in the name of Linda Melton in care of Bill Melton to the South Sound Reading Foundation. This foundation was created by Linda’s long time friend, Shirley Lehnis & will benefit the children of schools in Thurston County.
Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Group Health Oncology team & Providence Sound Home Care & Hospice, as well as the love and support she received from her teaching friends.
A memorial service is planned at St Benedicts Episcopal Church, 910 Bowker Street SE in Lacey, WA on September 18th at 2pm.
