Martha "Missy" Mapp
September 12, 1941 — September 17, 2004
Martha (Missy) Mapp was born in Long Beach, California on September 12, 1941 to Martha H. and James Angus Conner. She later moved to Solvang, California where she went through grammar and high school. She also attended Allan Hancock Junior College in Santa Maria, California. She met and married William Don Mapp in May 1961. Don was in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Vandenberg AFB. Missy and Don had three boys; John William Mapp II, James Michael Mapp, and Patrick Conner Mapp. Don and Missy lived all over the world while in the Air Force and finally settled in Lacey, Washington in 1983. Missy was an active Motorcycle Safety Education Instructor for over 20 years retiring in 1998 from teaching.
Missy had many hobbies from writing poetry, even publishing her own book of poems, to making woven baskets, to drawing and painting. She continued to ride her motorcycle until recently when she became too weak to handle such a large motorcycle as her Harley-Davidson.
Missy died on September 17, 2004 after a long illness of Ovarian Cancer leaving her husband of 43 years Don; three sons, John (Bill) Mapp of Norfolk, Virginia, James Mapp of Phoenix, Arizona, and Patrick Mapp of Olympia, Washington;three grandchildren, Athena 4 ½ years old, Benjamin 4 years old, and Alise 1 year old. Missy left three surviving siblings; a brother Shawn Michael Conner of Rodeo, California, and two sisters Sheila Shoemaker of Hanford, California and Catey Olivolo of Yreka, California.
Missy will be missed by all her friends and family.
