Peggy Ann Davenport

On January 25, 2023, Peggy Ann Davenport passed away peacefully at age 93 after a brief illness. Peggy was a lifelong Catholic and very proud of her Irish heritage. She was born in Los Angeles, California, to Carl and Margret Thomas on December 15, 1929. She had two sisters, Thelma and Pat; and a brother, Jerry, who died as a young boy. Peggy spent her early youth in Centralia, Washington, and later moved to Olympia, Washington, for high school. She moved to San Francisco in the early 1950s and loved the atmosphere and its people. She modeled briefly for Standard Oil and moved back to Seattle, Washington, a few years later. She met and married Russell Davenport in the late ‘60s and had a son, Thomas Davenport, in 1970. After separating from Russ in 1974, she moved back with Tom to Olympia to be close to Bob and Thelma Stamey. She truly loved spending time with her sister's children and being close to Carl, who had retired in Lacey, Washington. Peggy worked at the Olympia Brewery for five years and later went on to work for the State of Washington at The Evergreen State College. After retiring, Peggy moved to the Tri-Cities, Washington, to escape the rain, but realized she missed her family in Olympia too much and chose to move home. She spent the last six years living in the Affinity Apartments on the west side of Olympia and made incredible friendships with many of the residents there. Peggy is survived by her son, Tom, and her daughter-in-law, Colleen her nieces, Patti Ann Moore, Julianna Stamey Clark, Barbara Stamey Wilkins, Kathy Nehl, Kim Nehl; and nephews, Steve Stamey, Bob Stamey, Dick Stamey and Bill Nehl, and all their families. Peggy was a kind and loving woman and will be remembered for her positive attitude and contagious smile. Services were held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 3850 Cleveland Ave. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501 on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
