Ryan William Craven
September 19, 1974 — June 21, 2008
Ryan William Craven
Ryan William Craven, 33 of San Francisco, California, died suddenly and unexpectedly at home on June 21, 2008. He was born September 19, 1974 in Carmichael, California, to Ronald and Mary Craven and was the youngest of the four Craven kids that included Denise, Karen, and big brother, Adam. He was nephew to Margaret, Patricia, Kathy, Lynn, and Jill; cousin to Frank, Mike, Joe, Jenny, Leslie, James, Mona, Ben, Julie, Johnny, Leslie and Jill and many second cousins. One of his favorite roles in life was being the much loved “Uncle Ryan” to Mariah, Summer, Mekayla, and Crissy.
Ryan lived in many places, including Olympia, Vancouver, Portland, and Sacramento but San Francisco was the place he loved best. He frequently called his mom to describe the view outside his office window in downtown San Francisco as “another beautiful day in paradise.” He loved family gatherings, especially during the holidays and almost always made it home for Christmas. He was a first class bartender for several years, even winning Sacramento’s “Best Bartender” award one year. However, he traded in the night job for a day job at J.P. Morgan in San Francisco, working in the mailroom and doing investment research. His future truly looked bright.
His love of music was boundless. He worked at playing the piano and guitar and enjoyed singing along. He was moved by Mozart, Broadway show tunes, and the blues , but he mostly loved Rock and Roll. Ryan had a knack for winning concert tickets on the radio and attended concerts whenever he could. His friend, Carrie, claims that she even got him to listen to two country songs.
Ryan was gentle in nature, friendly to everyone, and a loyal friend to many people. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and wonderful sense of humor. His smile could light up a room. He will be deeply missed by his family, long-time partner, Eric Cook, and his friends. We hope our precious Ryan finds peace on his journey.
