Funeral service for Mrs. Edwina Taylor, 80, of West Columbia will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church of West Columbia, 400 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Dr. Bill Drees and Pastor Jody Ratcliffe will officiate. Mr. John Ballington and Mr. LeGare Gunter will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow the service in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00PM Tuesday, January 26, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia. Mrs. Taylor passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016. Born in Monticello, NM, she was a daughter of the late Joe M. and Ruth Apodaca Bierner. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved caring for her family, and enjoyed sewing and embroidery. Edwina was fiercely independent, and was not afraid to speak her mind. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia. Edwina was the loving and beloved matriarch of her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, M.G. Taylor; daughters, Linda Witherspoon (John) of Georgia, Alison McCormick of West Columbia; 3 grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel and Jessica, and one great-granddaughter, Bailey. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Bierner, Jr., of Silver City, NM and brothers-in-law, Odell Taylor, Leon Taylor (Annie Ruth) and Alton Taylor; great nephew, Shannon Taylor and a large and loving extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Ernestine Bierner, and a brother-in-law, Milford Taylor; nephew, Ronald D. Taylor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of West Columbia.
