James Felton Ridings

James Felton Ridings, 89, of Elgin, South Carolina passed away January 15, 2019. He was born on June 28, 1929 in Eagan Park, Georgia to the late Doc and Mattie Ridings. James served 22 years in the US Army and retired as an E8. He earned his Associates Degree in Horticultural and Accounting. James loved gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved old westerns and cheering on the GA Bulldogs. James is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Alethea Ridings; six children, Sheryl (Kenneth) Rector, Pamela Parker, Barbara Kay (George) Hall, Curtis James (Delinda) Ridings, Glenn Ridings, and Kerry (Justin) Lee; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 12:30 PM with Bishop Eric Kiem officiating. Interment will follow at 2 pm Fort Jackson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
