Paul Dawson

BLYTHEWOOD:A private service for Paul Wiley Dawson, Jr., 88, will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Dawson, husband of Alice ?Betty? Dawson, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Born in DuBois, PA, he was the only son of the late Paul Wiley Dawson, Sr. and Mary Ann Betton Dawson. He attended Penn State University and remained an avid Penn State fan. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Mr. Dawson was retired from National Welders Supply and following retirement he worked at Midland Mortgage Corporation for over ten years. He was a member of the Columbia Country Club for over fifty years. Survivors include his wife, Alice Elizabeth ?Betty? Dawson; son, Paul Wiley Dawson, III, ?Koot?; daughters, Mary Beth Gillis (Joe) and Kathy Buckner (Jim) all of Blythewood; also six grandchildren, Jeb Buckner, Danny Buckner, Elizabeth Buckner, Jessica Dawson, Ali Corral (Mark), Dakota Dawson and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the charity of one?s choice. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.
