June 1, 1919 — August 20, 2013
COLUMBIA-Thelma Margrett Freeman, 94, of Columbia, passed into eternal life, August 20, 2013, at Providence Hospital, Forest Drive. Born June 1, 1919 in Farmsville, TX, she was a daughter of the late William Washington and Girtie (Bowers) O'Dell. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia for more than 35 years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Freeman, with whom she shared a union of more than 66 years.
She is survived by her children, Jerry L. Freeman (Judith) and Rosemary F. Lytle (Rick); grandchildren, James C. Freeman (Sunny), Douglas P. Freeman (Jaclyn) Jennifer L. Schulz (Michael) and Melanie L. Peake (Donnie). She is also survived by great grandchildren, Cameran and Jackson Schulz and Landon and Payton Grace Peake.
The family would like to send special thanks to Wildwood Downs Rehab nurses and staff who provided excellent care during her final months. The family would like to also thank dear neighbors, Dot, Diane and Ruth for their loving care and compassion.
A private memorial and interment service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Missions, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
