LEXINGTON: Funeral service for Wilbur Kenneth "Ken" Rabon, Jr. 52, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2012, at State Street Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Tommy Pillow. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Shumpert, Alan Sheppard, Bobby Owen, Charles Cox, Jimmy Cox and Mike Justice. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hardee, John Joseph and The Pond Branch Riders. The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duke University Cancer Institute, Office of Development, DUMC 3828, Durham, NC 27710.
Ken passed away Wednesday, August 01, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. Born in Loris, SC, he was a son of Bonnie Frances Cox and the late Wilbur K. Rabon, Sr. He was a member of State Street Baptist Church and beloved brother of the Pond Branch Riders motorcycle club. Ken was an avid fan of South Carolina Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Surviving are: his mother, Bonnie Cox Rabon of Cayce; daughters, Kelly R. Smoak (Jonathan) of Lexington and Kathleen Rabon of West Columbia; sister, Renee`
Turner (Lowell) of Cayce and their daughter, Tina; brother, Dennis Rabon (Kristen) of Elgin; nieces, Ansley and Erin Rabon; great nieces, Cierra, Jannie and Madelynn. Ken was preceded in death by a nephew, Buddy Turner.
