Kathleen Ann McKeever Ziegler, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, compassion, strength, and devotion that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Born in Rockford, Illinois, on February 9, 1948, Kathleen lived a life defined by love of family, kindness, and selflessness. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, beloved sister, aunt, and dear friend. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched countless lives, and she had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and deeply loved.

Kathleen shared a lifelong love with her beloved husband, Charles C. Ziegler, a proud Senior Master Sergeant (SMSGT) in the United States Air Force, who preceded her in death. Together they built a life centered on love, family, service, and unwavering commitment to one another. It brings comfort to know they are reunited once again in eternal peace.

Kathleen's greatest joy was her family. She was the proud and loving mother of five children: Deborah A. Vaughan, Teresa L. Harshbarger, Cynthia S. Covington, William C. Ziegler, and Robert W. Ziegler. She was also a devoted grandmother to her eight cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Jennifer, Jacob, Brittani, Christopher, Timothy, Billy, and Joshua, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Kathleen was further blessed with nine great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. She treasured every holiday, celebration, and simple moment spent with her family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, Kathleen's legacy lives on through the lives she touched with her compassion, grace, and unwavering love. She will be remembered not only for what she did, but for who she was—a woman of quiet strength, deep love, and remarkable kindness.

Kathleen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Charles C. Ziegler, at Sarasota National Cemetery, where they will remain together in honored rest. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life, honor her memory, and give thanks for the love she shared so freely.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered love, prayers, support, and compassion during Kathleen's final days. Your kindness brought comfort during a difficult time and will never be forgotten.

Kathleen was known for her heartfelt words of comfort and faith, often reminding those she loved, "May God watch over and protect you always."

"Those we love never truly leave us. They live on in every memory we cherish, every lesson they taught us, and every act of love we share in their honor."

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
