Nanci Louise Palmer
Dec 21, 1952 — Jun 24, 2026
Nanci Louise Birdsong Palmer, 73, peacefully passed at her home in Lakewood Ranch, Florida on June 24, 2026. Born in Evansville, Indiana on December 21, 1952, she moved to Seminole, Florida at a young age, where her parents owned and operated Birdsong’s Motel and the family lived on the premises. Later, Nanci’s parents purchased a fish camp on the shores of Lake Seminole where Nanci worked in the bait shop as a teenager. Nanci attended public schools in Largo, Florida and graduated from Largo High School. She worked for many years as an emergency dispatcher for the Clearwater Florida Police Department, rising through the ranks as a Communications Supervisor. Later, she was employed for many years with Presbyterian Homes and Housing, where she again rose through the ranks to oversee many retirement rental communities on Florida’s west coast. Nanci married Mitchell Palmer on April 5, 1985, in Largo. After relocating to Bradenton, Florida, she welcomed her beloved son, Evan, on April 30, 1993. Becoming a mother was the greatest joy of her life, and there was no accomplishment that made her prouder. Nanci was a fiercely loyal friend to many. She was an accomplished cook and a skilled artist. Over the years, she made hundreds of pieces of exquisite, beaded jewelry and often sold pieces at various beading stores that she worked at. She loved to entertain at home and to decorate her home for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Nanci was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Mildred “Millie” Birdsong and by her sister Betty Jean “BJ” Rubio. She is survived by her loving son Evan and his wife Keytlin, by her precious cats Jimi and Alice, and by many loving extended family members. Nanci is gone but she will not be forgotten.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home in Bradenton, Florida on July 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., where family and friends will come together to say their goodbyes.
