Ardell Merkin Laster of Charlotte, NC died peacefully on Friday, November 2, 2018. She was 94 years old. She was born on June 12, 1924 in New York, NY the beloved daughter of the late Jacob Merkin and the late Bessie Levine Merkin. Ardell worked as a cashier for Jamesway Retail Stores before her retirement. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Rosenfeld and her husband Arnold (Arnie) Rosenfeld of Indian Land, SC; her sister Audrey Grantier of Longwood, Florida; her two grandchildren Beth Lewis and her husband James (Jimmy) of Waxhaw, NC and Mitchell Rosenfeld of North Massapequa, New York; and her four great-grandsons Darien, Tyler, Alexander and Ryan Lewis. In addition to her late parents, Mrs. Laster was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jack Laster who died in August 2015; her brothers Alvin Merkin and his late wife Henny Merkin and Martin Merkin and his late wife Marilyn Merkin, and brother-in-law John Grantier. Ardell was laid to rest beside her husband on Wednesday, November 07, 2018 at Salisbury National Cemetery 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
