Ballard G. (Buddy) Norwood

Ballard G. “Buddy” Norwood, 87, of Charlotte, passed away on February 20, 2026. Born on January 23, 1939, in Oxford, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Dr. Ballard and Gwendolyn Wheeler Norwood.

He worked for more than 30 years with The Shelton Companies, Shelco, and Shelton Vineyards.

Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Jane Norwood; his sisters-in-law, Virginia Norwood and Betty Parler; his brother-in-law, Robert Parler (Janice); his nephews, Ryan Norwood (Chris), James Parler (April), Daniel Parler (Keri), and Ward Parler (Shelby); his nieces, Megan Ellis (Kerry) and Donna Bolt (Pedie); and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Neil Norwood and Beverly “Bev” Norwood; his sister-in-law, Bernadette Norwood; his niece, Aprile Chapman; and his brother-in-law, James A. Parler.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC.
