Bernice Roberts Antonio, 90, of Charlotte, peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 while holding her granddaughter’s hand at Brighton Gardens where she was in the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte. She was born on Monday, July 15, 1929 in Columbia, SC, to the late Thomas A. and Jessie Chambers Roberts.
Bernice worked for Owens Illinois for 31 years. She was known for her cooking and gardening.
Bernice is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jimmie Antonio of Charlotte; granddaughter, Lori Williams and husband, Frank, of Leland; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Catherine A. (Cathy) Whitaker.
A burial service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2019 with Reverend Doug Joyner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Life Church formerly known as Southside Baptist Church, 301 Elmhurst Road Charlotte, 28209 or to Rotary Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust, c/o Leland Area Rotary Club, P.O. Box 513, Leland, N.C. 28451 or by visiting http://www.cartfund.org.
