Bill "Billy" Cole McGirt Jr.

Bill Cole McGirt Jr., 72, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on June 8, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital.

Billy was born on January 18, 1954, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Bill Cole McGirt Sr. and Bobbie D. McGirt.

Billy spent many years working alongside his family at McGirt Trucking. He had a lifelong love of baseball and found great joy in giving back to his community whenever he could. His generous spirit, contagious smile, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Billy is survived by his children, Jennifer McGirt, Billy McGirt III, and Jeffrey McGirt; his grandson, Juston McGirt; the mother of his children, Amelia B. McGirt; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael McGirt.

Billy will be remembered for his warm heart, generosity, sense of humor, and devotion to his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on through those whose lives he touched.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203. Visitation will begin at 12pm. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Billy requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his memory.

Billy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
