April 27, 1960 – October 21, 2019
Bruce Henry Jacobowitz of Indian Trail, NC since 1992, age 59, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital. Bruce Jacobowitz was born on April 27, 1960 in New York, New York and is the loving son of the late Isaac and Phyllis (Goodglass) Jacobowitz.
To know Bruce is to know the zest he had for life. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Mets. He had the special opportunity to travel with his friend Dan to watch the Mets play in the playoffs. He also took every opportunity to travel to Atlanta to watch the Mets play. Bruce loved everything computers and science fiction. He worked with computers his whole life following in the steps of his best friend and father. He traveled every year to Atlanta with his friend Richard to go to DragonCon. Later in his life, he discovered a love for the arts and painting. Despite physical limitations, he worked with the wonderful staff at Warehouse 13 to keep his mind and body strong.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years Mary Maxwell Jacobowitz. Bruce is also survived by his sisters Elka J. Bernstein and Stacy Owings (Matt). Additionally, Bruce is survived by his much loved nieces and nephews Nathan Bernstein, Jordan Bernstein, Jake Bernstein, Katie Owings, Kamryn Elder and Zachary Elder. Bruce also had many fur babies which were very special in his life.
Bruce’s family would like to thank the many people that have loved and supported him throughout his life. We know that you are also his family and we love you for the joy you brought him. A special thanks to the ICU Team and Palliative Team at Novant Presbyterian Hospital for the love, support and comfort they provided Bruce.
Graveside services will be held the Hebrew Cemetery, 1801 Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC 28206 on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 12:30 pm.
The family respectfully requests donations in Bruce’s memory be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 in lieu of flowers.
