David John Viscount

Sep 21, 1960 — Sep 19, 2018

David John Viscount, 57, of Matthews, passed away on Wednesday September 19, 2018 after a five-year struggle with ALS. He was born September 21, 1960 in Syracuse, New York to Alice and Roy Viscount. David married the love of his life, Pam, in May of 1987. Together they raised three children, Jonathan, Kelsey, and Alec, and one beloved dog, Katie. In addition to his immediate family, Dave loved and cherished his aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, nieces, and nephews. David worked for decades in the service sector of the auto industry. There he honed the qualities that permeated every aspect of his life—hard work, fairness, and respect. He had a great love for his many friends and took special pride in the relationships that spanned decades. He was his happiest when spending time with friends on the golf course or ski slope. Throughout his life, Dave put the Christian principles he held dear into practice by continually showing up for his loved ones and reminding each of us to hold fast to our convictions. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sharpness of mind, and distinct laugh. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to everyone who loved and cared for David in recent years. Your support was a constant comfort to David and our family. David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife and children; siblings, Michael, Jeff, Janet, and Tom; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Blair Road United Methodist Church, 9135 Blair Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227, at 2pm. The family will receive guests in the Family Life Center immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Joe Martin ALS Foundation, 100 N Tryon St # 3420, Charlotte, NC 28202.
