Ellen Louise Chavis

Ellen Louise Chavis, 64, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020. Born September 18, 1955, in Greensboro, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Freeman Jay and Sylvia Frances Eleanor LeClaire Wainwright. Ellen enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting - especially in her sleep, beach time, animals and nature, and spending time with her family. Ellen is survived by her loving children, Frances Alena Dixon, Katherine Ashley Chavis, and James Andrew Chavis; sister, Jeannette Wainwright; and many more family and friends. Ellen's celebration of life will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at University City Seventh Day Adventist Church, 11431 University City Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28213. If you are planning on attending, please wear something in the shade of blue as it was her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations of arts, crafts and knitting supplies to be donated in honor of her love for bringing people together over creativity and fellowship.
