Jemele Sanderson

Jemele Sanderson passed away on November 11, 2018 from cancer in Charlotte, NC after 75 years blessed with excellent health and an energetic lifestyle. She was born on July 1, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her parents were James Bawdin Sanderson and Doris Doolittle Sanderson. Her brothers are Terry Jerome Sanderson, Indianapolis, IN and James Kent Sanderson, Bethany Beach, DE. Her magnum opus #1 was raising two daughters: Hope Hudson (Howard Pollack) and Lydia Skardon (Chris Skardon); then watching with pride as they created their own productive lives including raising Jemele’s five grandchildren. Her magnum opus #2 was the annual star-studded 2nd grade class play that she produced and directed complete with singing and dancing. Her magnum opus #3 was volunteering with an army of patriots to elect a good man to Congress. She worked first as a research analyst at both Northwestern University and University of Pittsburgh Medical School’s Biochemistry Department. She then worked as a math teacher at Quaker Valley, Sewickley Academy, and Northgate School District in Western Pennsylvania. Jemele never saw a weed she didn’t want to pull, a spent bloom she didn’t want to deadhead, a logic/math problem she didn’t want to solve, a pool she didn’t want to swim, a new recipe she didn’t want to try for her next party, a Constitutional conservative candidate she didn’t want to support, a conservative issue she didn’t pray or march for, or a flag raised for the national anthem that didn’t give her a lump in the throat. There will be a private family interment. Memorials may be made to the Southminster Community Fund, the Wing Haven Foundation or your favorite entity that supports civil society.
