Mrs. Marz died April 19, 2026 under the care of hospice. She was born September 1932 in Smyrna, SC to Robert Pinkney Whitesides and Clara Johnston Whitesides. Mrs. Marz graduated from Kings College and retired as a teacher’s assistant with Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.

Mrs. Marz joyfully served her church, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, for more than 70 years in many capacities, always welcoming others with her warm and inviting smile. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crafting ceramics, and knitting. She also enjoyed watching sports and the Hallmark Channel.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Edward Joseph Marz, and brother, Johnston Whitesides. She is survived by her daughters, Cyndi Marz Cox and husband, Woody, Melody Marz Howarth and husband, Scott; grandchildren Megan Bolick and husband, Jacob, Trey Cox and wife, Britney, Natalie Holman and husband, Joseph, and Nicholas Howarth; great-grandchildren Olivia Cox, Rhett Cox, Emie Holman, Ellie Jo Holman, Noel Jo Bolick, and Clark Holman.

The celebration of life will be held Wednesday April 22, 2026 at 12:00pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30am - 11:45am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church (Fellowship Hall), 1001 Queens Rd, Charlotte, NC 28207 or Carolina Caring Hospice 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
