John Gary Sigmon, aged 86, of Charlotte, NC passed away Tuesday morning the 10th of Sept, 2019, from an extended illness.
He was born August 2nd, 1933, in Cornelius, NC, as the only child of Roy K. Sigmon and Edith Whitlow Sigmon. He was a draftsman and estimator. He worked for R. J. Locke, General Specialties, Delph, and AFI, during the 48 years of his career.
He was a loyal son, a loving and faithful husband, a dedicated and hard working father, and a loving grandfather.
He will be remembered for his MacGiver-like abilities to fix nearly anything with duct tape and push pins, his numerous wood working projects, his scratch built models, and his love of airplanes and other vehicles of flight. He was a good man who took great care to provide for his family, by working hard, and living an honest and honorable life.
He is survived by his wife Joan “Jo” Sigmon, his daughter Toni Sigmon Merritt and her husband Joel Merritt, his daughter Kim Sigmon, and his 2 granddaughters Elizabeth Merritt Magnuson and Edith Grace Sigmon.
His wit, his humor, his laugh, and his love will be remembered by those who loved him most, his family.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 3200 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209 with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations in his honor be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 3200 Park Rd. Charlotte NC.
