Katherine "Kathy" Wagstaff
November 26, 1953 — April 16, 2023
Katherine “Kathy” McCabe Wagstaff was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world peacefully on April 16, 2023 at age 69.
She was born to Mary Joy Browning and Charles Francis McCabe on November 26, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY. In her early 20’s, Kathy spent two years working as a photographer in Hawaii before returning to New York City where she worked for Time Inc. and Condé Nast. While living in New York she met her husband, Richard Wagstaff. Together, they had two children: Andrew and Olivia.
Kathy loved interior design and studied at the Parsons School of Design. Upon moving to Charlotte, NC in 1993 with her family, Kathy started her own interior design business called A New Look. Kathy was a beloved friend to many and loved hosting parties at her home for friends and neighbors. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband Richard John Wagstaff, her son Andrew Charles Wagstaff, daughter Olivia Wagstaff Hurd and grandchildren Abigail Mae Wagstaff (4), Henry Charles Wagstaff (1) and Louise Katherine Hurd (1).
A private ceremony and celebration of life will be held in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to CurePSP at curepsp.org.
