Kathleen Ann Oxendine

Kathleen Ann Kicklighter Oxendine, age 70, of Charlotte, NC passed away at her home on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Kathleen was born in Washington county Maryland to the late Otis K. Kicklighter and Katherine Neugehauer Kicklighter and was one of nine children. Mrs. Oxendine devoted most of her adult life to being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She adored being a “Grandmother” and gladly gave up her career when given the opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. She was truly the heart of her home and cherished family Sundays. She particularly enjoyed cooking and then sending everyone home with food for later! Even when she was away from her kitchen, she could be seen planning the next “decorating event”. At her very best she could be seen enjoying her front porch and her word-search puzzles. She truly enriched the lives of so many people. Kathleen is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Raeford Oxendine; her five children of whom she was most proud of, Samantha Manley and her husband Clint Manley Sr., Erick Oxendine, Anthony and his wife Christy Oxendine, and Felicia and her husband Tony Yates, and her late son Dwaine Ray Oxendine. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Brian, Justin, Sicerra, Christian, Sabino, Jacqueline, Andrew, and Matthew. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and one sister. Her family will receive friends and visitors on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 10:00AM to 12:00 Noon at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, with her funeral service to begin at 12NOON in the chapel at Hankins and Whittington. Her interment service will follow immediately at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104.
