Marybeth Smith

Marybeth Smith, 91, of Charlotte NC was born in city limits July 8, 1933, to William and Katherine Manning. Marybeth was an educator for over 34 years while raising a family she loved and adored. She was like a second mother to many of the children who will always remember the love and life lessons she taught during her tenure at Dilworth Elementary.

Marybeth was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and spent many years sharing her love for music as a soprano in the church choir. She was an avid sports fan, and while she enjoyed cheering on the Panthers and Hornets, no sport could compete with her love for baseball and the Atlanta Braves.

Marybeth is survived by her daughter Ann Marie Greeson (Ken), sisters Ann Honeycutt, Lyn Yarbrough (Ted), grandchildren Paul Greeson, Chelsea Smith (Erika), and Sean Smith (Katie). She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Kate, brother Bob, husband of 59 years John, and sons Andy and Mark.

The family will be greeting visitors from 10 am to 11 am Friday, June 20, 2025, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.  

A funeral service will follow at 11 am in the Chapel at Hankins and Whittington with interment following in Sharon Memorial Park.
