Mildred Lee Stowe Caldwell
Mrs. Caldwell, 87, peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2010, surrounded at home by her beloved family.
A native of Gaston County, Mildred was the daughter of the late Chris and Emma Stowe. She graduated from Gastonia High School and Flora Macdonald College. She was married to the love of her life, Jenks Caldwell. With her husband, she was involved in the formation and operation of Charlotte Aircraft Corporation for many years. She was an active member of Amity Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.
Her family would express her life as one of faith in her Lord, and service and kindness towards others. Her greatest joy was spending time preparing delicious meals and offering hospitality to family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, playing card games and spending time in Montreat, NC.
She is survived by her son, Jenks Caldwell, Jr., and daughters Mary Ann Beckett (Bob) and Carol Christina Caldwell Yeager; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a brother George Stowe (Awilda) and sister-in-law, Betty Caldwell Taylor. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jenks, and by her brother Herbert Stowe.
A memorial service celebrating Mildred?s life will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 11:00 am at Amity Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Fred Holder and Rev. Betsy Williamson will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9 am in Johnston Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, 28204.
