Paulo Sigueo Kawassaki

May 7, 1944 — Dec 7, 2019

Paulo Sigueo Kawassaki, 75, passed away peacefully in his home in Charlotte, North Carolina on December 7, 2019 after a life of devotion to his family. He was born in Pompeia, São Paulo, Brazil to the late Fukushigue Kawassaki and Aiko Kushiyama Kawassaki. Paulo was a kind, quiet and observant man, who always had wise advice and a hidden sense of humor which was noticed in the subtle jokes he made every once in a while. He graduated as a mechanical engineer and worked his entire career in São Paulo where all his children were born and raised. He later moved to Charlotte with his wife in 2013 to be closer to his daughter and family. Paulo is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Rumi Kawassaki; a daughter Andrea Beyazyurek; two sons Gelson Kawassaki and Gustavo Kawassaki; son-in-law Sarper Beyazyurek, two daughers-in-law Cristiane Kawassaki and Milena Kawassaki; and six grandchildren Luka, Paola, Melis, Nathalie, Levi and Lorenzo. Although Paulo is no longer with us, his memory will remain in our hearts and minds until the day we can all meet again. The family would like to thank the Hospice & Palliative Care team at Novant Health and all other health care professionals involved for their dedication and support during Paulo’s final days. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00am at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service on 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Hankins & Whittington. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of the Charlotte Region (https://www.hpccr.org/) Feel free to leave the family your condolences via the guestbook provided.
