Peter Louis Noschese

Peter Louis (Pete) Noschese, of Charlotte, died at home late the night of August 9 th , 2018. He was born June 29, 1945, in Yonkers, New York, to the late Anne and Victor Noschese. Pete grew up in Yonkers, graduating from Manhattan College High School (Manhattan Prep) in the Bronx, New York City. He studied Forestry at Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smith’s, New York for a year. Pete then attended State Agricultural and Technical College, Farmingdale, New York. Pete was active in sports and played on the baseball and tennis teams at Manhattan Prep. As an adult, he was a member of the Yonkers YMCA Judo Club achieving the highest judo rank of Brown Belt. Pete won several championships including the Metropolitan AAU Championship. After earning his private pilot’s certificate, Pete purchased a Cessna Two Ten Centurion, a single engine propeller plane. Then after earning his instrument rating, Pete flew solo across the USA with many stops including Texas, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and Los Angeles before piloting his plane back to the East Coast. While living in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Pete earned his twin-engine aircraft pilot’s certificate. Also while living in Rocky Mount, Pete met Nora Mae Black. They were married on September 20, 1975, in Raleigh, North Carolina. They celebrated their 42 nd wedding anniversary in September of 2017. After moving to Charlotte, they became members of Myers Park Presbyterian Church. Pete especially enjoyed the music programs of the church. During and following college, Pete worked briefly in residential construction. Then Pete embarked on a career that spanned 48 years in Commercial Emergency Power and Backup Power Generation. In 1966, he started work with Bruce G. M. Diesel in Lodi, New Jersey. During his career he also worked for Morrison-Knudsen Company in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, Pete worked for Cummins Atlantic, Piedmont Power Products, DTE Energy Technologies, and Nixon Power Services. He retired from Nixon Power Services in 2014. Left to treasure memories of Pete are his wife, Nora, and his precious toy poodle Violetta, (of Charlotte); his wonderful sister Terry Noschese (of Somers, NY); his good cross- country travel buddy and brother-in-law William E. (Jeep) Black, Jr., and Jeep’s endearing wife Susan D. Black (of Tucson, AZ); and Pete’s nieces Heather Black and Holly Schrade (husband Jeff), and nephew Randy Black (wife Kim) and their families in Arizona. His family and friends were not ready for Pete to leave this earth, but his family and friends are grateful that he had lived his life to the fullest. He was still able to drive his beloved Jeep Patriot to all kinds of appointments, take relaxing swims at the YMCA, and enjoy the company of all those whom he loved. With humor and compassion, Pete made the best of his life and made those who surrounded him, including his family and friends, former coworkers, doctors and health care professionals, better for the experience. His family is truly grateful for the love Pete gave and for the love that has been given to Pete throughout his very special life.
