Born on April 4, 1944, Richard was the son of the late Richard Caswell Wallace, Sr. and Floy Berry Wallace. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished grandfather whose strength, loyalty, and steady presence meant so much to his family. He was a big man with an even bigger heart, who always gave his time and energy to anyone.

Richard made his home in Charlotte for the past 52 years, where he built a life of family, work, and community. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Jane Maskell; sister, Sarah Wallace McClain (Paul); sons, Rick Wallace (Heather) and Jon Wallace (Betsy); and grandchildren, Jennie (Zach), McRae, Eliza, Wells, Xander, and Owen, who brought him great joy and pride.

A graduate of Morganton High School, Richard continued his education at Gaston Technical College. He built a successful and varied career, working in real estate and later as a food broker with Frito-Lay.

Richard had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed vast traveling, spending time at the beach, hunting, and pursuing many hobbies. He and Karen were and continue to be most devoted to their dogs, each holding a most special place in their hearts and home.

Richard will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His protectiveness, loyalty and love for his family, friends, and neighbors will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Richard will be remembered at a memorial service on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 2pm at the Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home Chapel, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, N.C.
