Angelina Rodriguez Banda, 90, of Elk Grove, passed peacefully into Glory on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in the presence of her children.
Angelina was born September 22, 1923 in Sanger, California and raised in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico. She returned to the United States in her 20’s where she settled in Salinas and met the love of her life, Victor Cisneros Banda, whom she married in 1953.
Angelina, who was trained as a teacher in Mexico, completed her Associate of Arts Degree at Hartnell Community College, worked in the Head Start Program in the 1960’s and became a Community Health Aide for the Monterey County Office of Education/Alisal High School working in the Migrant Education Program from which she retired. She was proud of her years of service in the Migrant Education Program and in particular her service to the students and their families.
Angelina was devoted to God, her husband, family, Christ the King (Cristo Rey) church, and the community which she served. There was nothing that gave her greater pleasure than having her children, their spouses, and all her grandchildren gathered in the family home in Salinas.
Angelina is survived by,
daughters, Celia Banda Brown of Suisun City
Anna Banda Contreras of Manteca
and Elizabeth Miranda of Elk Grove
son, Victor David Banda of Elk Grove
She is also survived by five grandchildren and members of her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband after 54 years of marriage.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 1-9pm with a Rosary vigil at 7pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 23, 2014 10am at Cristo Rey Catholic Church 240 Calle Cebu Salinas, CA 93901.
Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.
