Bruno P. Espino, Jr.
October 27, 1944 — April 7, 2024
Bruno Espino Jr., of Yuma, AZ, sadly passed away on April 7, 2024, at 79, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on October 27, 1944, in Uvalde, Texas, and lived in Salinas, California for 61 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruno Espino Sr. and Maria Ignacia Polanco.
Bruno is survived by his ex-first wife and end-of-life companion, Lupe Olvera; and their children—Ray Olvera Espino and his spouse, Angel, Roy Olvera Espino, and Ruby Olvera Espino and her spouse, Sergio Calivillo. His grandchildren are little Ray, Alex, Victoria, Isabella Espino, Mercedez Olvera Espino, Sergio Bartolo Calvillo, Ozwaldo Espino Calvillo, and Ricardo “Ricky” Calvillo. His ex-second wife, Alicia Espino; Siblings; Esperanza Espino, Florinda Laralde, Janie England ,Maruca.
He worked in the fields in the Salinas Valley for 48 years as a Foreman, Supervisor, and Quality Control at Bud Antle, Hansen Farms, Associated Produce, Freshkist, and Green Rubber-Kennedy Ag. for 15 years. He woke up before the sun and came home late in the evening. Bruno’s work ethic was unparalleled, and he was a model of inspiration to his family.
Bruno was a true city cowboy who could outdress anyone in his fine suits at parties. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed seeing his grandkids while he cooked, fixed his house, and cared for his lemon tree.He enjoyed football and chili de molcajete and could entertain with the funniest stories. He was a good man, father, friend, and beloved papa to his grandkids. Bruno will be remembered for his love and his spirit to his family.
Visitation will be held 1:00pm to 6:00pm Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Healey Mortuary, 405 North Sanborn Road Salinas, CA 93905.
Rosary will be held at 4:00pm Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Healey Mortuary, 405 North Sanborn Road Salinas, CA 93905.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Christ the King Church, Calle Cebu Street, Salinas, CA 93901. Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
