Our hearts are broken. We lost our beloved mother and Nana, Celia Serrano, on May 2, 2026, in Monterey, after a brief illness. She was born in Bayard, Nebraska and was raised in Tepechitlán, Zacatecas before moving to Monterey County in 1974, where she lived for 52 years.

Celia was a retired field laborer, homemaker, and the beloved widow of Serafin Serrano. She enjoyed long drives to Mexicali to visit her beloved daughter, Carmen Salazar, who preceded her in death. She also enjoyed visiting casinos and sharing lunches with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosa Renteria; her sons, Roberto Serrano, Jesus Serrano, and Salvador Serrano, all of Salinas; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on May 28, 2026, at Healey Mortuary, followed by the Rosary.

Rosary: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary chapel.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on May 29, 2026 at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, followed by burial at Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
