Donald Patrick Caskey
September 18, 1956 — March 2, 2026
Donald was born and raised in Garden Grove, California. He was the eldest of seven boys born to Donald Sr. and Waltina Caskey. He attended Garden Grove High School and Pepperdine University and finished his education obtaining his masters at California State Los Angeles.
Throughout high school and college, Don was a lifeguard at Huntington Beach and played water polo. He was a dominant and incredible athlete. He was on the 1977 All American National Water Polo team, and is remembered as one of the GOATS by both his team mates and opponents alike.
Don relocated to Salinas, CA where he was an elementary School Special Education Teacher in the Alisal School District for over 40 years. He was known throughout the district for his artistic abilities and for the plays and productions he directed with his students. The lives he inspired cannot be measured. He was an avid Art collector, painter, and ocean kayaker. He shared his love of the ocean with his wife, Megen, and his children, Hayley and Henry. Along his six brothers, sister in laws, and nieces and nephews, we will all miss him dearly.
Services will be held at Rustique Winery, 1010 River Road, Salinas on May 17, 2026 from 1-3pm.
In lieu of flowers, please be prepared to take home a toy for the young ones in your lives. This would make Don so happy as his signature was to give a toy every child he met.
