James "Jimmy" Blackwell

b. February 8, 1957

James "Jimmy" Paul Blackwell, 56, passed away on Sept. 12, 2013 with his loving family wrapped in his arms after a hard fought battle with cancer. Jimmy was born on Feb. 8, 1957 in Fort Ord, CA. He is one of 6 children born to John and Mavis Blackwell. He is a graduate of Salinas High School and went on to become a mechanic for Greyhound Bus Line then became a Carpenter, and through hard work and devotion he became a Superintendent for Clarum Homes. He could build and fix anything. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, golfing, bike riding, camping, fishing and cooking. His real love was his 6 children, his wife and his pets. He loved to hike and spend time at the beach and parks with them as well as going to every baseball, soccer, basketball, and football games. He believed in hard work and lots of snuggling with his kids. He devoted all of his time to his children and helped coached their little league when he could. Jimmy is survived by his wife Maddie; and his beloved 6 children, Christopher, Nicholas, Timmy, Phillip, Danielle, and Samantha; his brothers, Bob, John and Ed Blackwell; and his sisters, Carolyn El-Feki and Mary Murphy as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mavis Blackwell. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 1pm at Healey Mortuary Chapel located at 405 N. Sanborn Rd. in Salinas. Reception to follow at Sacred Heart Church Parish Hall located 22 Stone St. 123 W. Market St. in Salinas.
