In Loving Memory

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jose Ortiz Espino, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend of many.  He truly will be missed by all who knew him. 

Joe was born August 9, 1927 in Knippa, Texas to Bruno and Victoria Espino.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Victoria Espino; sister, Josephine Espino; brother, Bruno Espino; and grandson, George Zazueta. 

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Carmen Espino of the family home in Salinas; children, Victoria Zazueta (Joe) of Salinas; Theresa Hill (William) of Portland, Oregon; Robert Espino (Patricia) of Salinas; Carlos Espino of Marina; and Michael Espino (Edith) of Salinas; brother, Pedro Espino of Salinas; Aunt Petra Olivas of King City; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Joe was a Veteran of the United States Army and served at Camp Beauregard in Louisiana during World War II.  He was a long-time resident of Monterey County for seventy-nine years.  He was employed as a cosmetologist for sixty years and had his shop Joe’s Barber Shop for over forty years before he retired.

Joe was a family man enjoying precious moments with his children and grandkids.

Jose Ortiz Espino passed May 29, 2025 and his service and interment will be Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 9:30am at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, 2900 Parker Flats Rd. in Seaside, California.
