August 15, 1944 – July 10, 2026
Laura Ann Guthrie, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully in Salinas, California, on July 10, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born in Salinas on August 15, 1944, Laura was raised in Chualar, California, where she developed deep faith and resilience. Defined by her immense love for family and devotion to God, she leaned entirely on prayer as her anchor, providing a permanent safe place and open doors for her loved ones. Laura had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease and poke fun, bringing endless laughter to family gatherings and sharing a unique connection with everyone in her family.
Laura is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas Guthrie; her brother, James Avacilla (Elizabeth); and her five children: Sheila Havens (George), Joyce Christensen, Jolette Colantro, Sean Colantro (Danielle), and Jeremy Guthrie.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her 14 grandchildren: Richard Boyd, Roberta Tirro (Mark), Vanessa Bell (Randy), Deja Boyd, Teofilo Ponce, Chad Christensen, Karina Gamez, Joshua Ponce (Nelly), Justin Valdez, Dominic Barnett, Celeste Colantro, Taylor Guthrie, Evelyn Colantro, Elijah Colantro, and Charlotte Colantro; and 15 great-grandchildren: Jalen Tirro, Keana Boyd Bouie, Jeramiah Boyd, Jaziah Boyd, Jayden Boyd, Julien Bell, Jordan Tirro, Jeremaii Bell, Joelle Bell, Kalani, Damany Barnett, Jewell Barnett, Noah Christensen, Isaias Ortiz, and Joshua Ponce, with 3 more on the way, as well as many loving nephews and nieces.
Laura was reunited in Heaven with her mother, Irene, her father, Fred, her beloved son, Victor, her beloved daughter, Julie, and her brother, Sherman.
Services
Public Viewing: Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Healey Mortuary (405 N. Sanborn Rd, Salinas, CA).
Funeral Service: Friday, July 24, 2026, at Healey Mortuary.
Repass: Following the funeral service on Friday at Toro Park (Buckeye Picnic Area).
