Leonardo Damo Arimas

Leonardo Damo Arimas lived a life rooted in the land and shaped by quiet, steady devotion.

On April 1, 2026, at the age of 100, he passed away surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a life full of simple joys and hard work.

Born on August 24, 1925, in Hilo, Hawaii. Leonardo (Nardo/Ardo) grew up learning the value of honest work and patience—lessons that stayed with him for life. As a farmer, he understood the rhythms of the seasons, the importance of tending things with care, and the reward of watching something grow. But his connection to the world didn’t end in the fields. He found peace by the water, fishing whenever he could—content in the stillness, the waiting, and the quiet beauty of nature. At home, his garden was another reflection of that same spirit: patient, nurturing, and full of life.  To those who knew him, he was more than a farmer and fisherman. He was kind, steady, generous, hardworking, someone who showed love not through grand gestures, but through presence, reliability, and care.

He is survived by his 8 children and their spouses (Pol and Ofelia Arimas, Flor Arimas, Magda Twiggy and Nestor Albances, Letty and Timmy Pimentel, Demy and Dado Abrenilla, Lino and Rosie Arimas, Nancy and Billy Villedo, and Cherry Venus and Tavis Macalino), 17 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren who will remember him in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the quiet moments that now feel even more meaningful. He was preceded in death by his wife (Clara Arimas), daughter-in-law (Evelyn Arimas), granddaughter (Florelyn Arimas) and great-granddaughter (Alice Arimas).

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Healey Mortuary from 3-6pm and a rosary prayer will be at 4pm.  A funeral mass is scheduled on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Church (22 Stone Street, Salinas).
