Lolita “Lory” Fernandez Jimenez, 81 of Salinas, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a long illness on April 8, 2026, at the Eden Valley Care Center, Soledad.

Lory was born on May 29, 1944, in Lingayen, Pangasinan, Philippines, the youngest of the four girls, to the late Hermogenes and Maria Fernandez.  Lolita grew up in Lingayen and graduated from Pangasinan National High School (PNHS). She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching. She dedicated over 30 years to teaching in grammar school at Malimpuec Elementary School. Lory loved teaching young children. I remembered her saying, "It's all about helping and making an impact on all the children that I teach. She went on and married the love of her life, Orlando “Orly” Jimenez, and had six children. After 13 years, they went on with their separate lives.

Lory was survived by her six children, Newland (Joy) Jimenez of Salinas, Jennifer (Basil) Lozada of Salinas, Orlando (Jona) Jimenez Jr of Las Vegas, Froilan Jimenez (Grace) of Salinas, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Jimenez of Las Vegas, and Jerome (Ivy) Jimenez of San Diego, and fifteen grandchildren. Many beloved nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her three older siblings and both parents, Hermogenes and Maria Fernandez

A viewing will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Healey Mortuary (Sanborn Rd) from 1-8 pm, and a rosary prayer will be at 6 pm. A funeral mass is scheduled at Madonna Del Sasso on Tuesday at 10:00 am. All are welcome, bring your appetite and a story about Lory. She would have wanted both.
