IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Maria Engracia Garcia

April 16, 1931 – June 18, 2026

Maria Engracia Garcia, 95, peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 17, 2026, surrounded by the warmth, devotion, and love of her family.

Born in Cd. Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Maria blessed the world with a beautiful and resilient spirit. A lifelong learner with a passion for helping others, she pursued her education with dedication and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (Autonomous University of Tamaulipas). Following her studies, she spent 12 years at the Hospital de Cd. Victoria, where she specialized in the delicate care and berthing of newborns. Bringing new life into the world and comforting young families reflected the deeply compassionate, patient, and nurturing heart that she brought to every area of her life.

Maria spent her long and rich life pouring that same devotion into her own family. She was a woman of profound grace, quiet strength, and unwavering faith, serving as the steady anchor and matriarch of her home. Her life was a beautiful testament to the power of unconditional love, patience, and care.

Maria’s greatest joy was found in the daily rhythm of caring for those she loved. Her hands were rarely still, always working to ensure the comfort, happiness, and peace of her family. Whether preparing traditional meals with love, offering a gentle word of wisdom, or simply filling a room with her comforting presence, she made her home a true sanctuary of warmth and safety. Her gentle guidance and deep devotion shaped generations, leaving behind a legacy of love, respect, and enduring family bonds.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Jose Sr.; her loving daughters, Martha (Distel) and Norma (Noel); her six cherished grandchildren; her nine adoring great-grandchildren; and her precious great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Jose Rodriguez, Paz Saldana, and Manuela Quinones, all of whom carry her beautiful legacy forward in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Oscar G. Garcia and Jose I. Garcia Jr., as well as her parents and relatives who welcomed her home into perfect peace.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing to honor Maria’s beautiful life on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Healey Mortuary (405 N. Sanborn Rd, Salinas, CA).

A funeral service to celebrate her life and faith will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church (22 Stone St, Salinas, CA 93901). Burial to follow at Garden of Memories (850 Abbott St, Salinas, CA 93901), where she will be laid to rest in peaceful grace.
