Soledad (Sally) Flores

June 9, 1936 – April 28, 2026

Sally passed peacefully in her sleep, at home, on April 28, 2026, a couple of months before her planned 90th birthday celebration.

Sally was one of 13 children born to Gomesindo and Lola Gonzales in New Mexico, moved to Salinas as a young child, Married the love of her life, Joe U. Flores with whom she had five children, worked in the packing shed for 9 years and then became a stay at home mom/homemaker.

Sally had a great sense of humor, loved joking, enjoyed laughing, dancing with her husband Joe, and music, loved cooking and was very good at it, and she loved spending time with her family. She was nicknamed “jitty jitty” for her dancing technique.

Survived by three of her children; Joe and Janet Flores of Sacramento, Connie Flores Castillo of Salinas, and Veronica and Joe Tapia of Modesto, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, brothers Morris Gonzales of Porterville, Larry and Carmina Gonzales of Hollister, and Sister Maggie Gonzales of Salinas. As well as many Nieces, Nephews, and God Children.

Preceded in death by husband Joe Flores in 1987, Daughters Sally Cabrera and Ernestine Peralta, Sisters Josie Urratio, Gloria Macias, Carmen Herrera, Brothers Baby Henry, George, Albert, Henry, Daniel, and Art Gonzales

Sally was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Visitation services will be held at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas, CA, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 3 PM to 8 PM, with a Rosary beginning at 6 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church Salinas, CA, with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
