Sylvia Amaya Jones, 59, of Salinas, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, March 6, 2011 after a brave fight with cancer.
She was born Jan. 24, 1952, in Salinas, to Bruno P. Amaya and Cecilia R. Amaya. She attended Alisal High School then Heald Business College and soon after began her dedicated 36 year career at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. She was married to Willie James Jones Jr. on July 8, 1978, and would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary this year. She loved spending time with her family, her cats Princess and Jasper, crafts and tech gadgets. She will be remembered for her open giving heart and the special touch she added to everything.
She is survived by her

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews,
great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10 at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.
Inurnment to take place on Saturday, March 12, 1pm at Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas.
