Tabitha Matus

July 30, 1987 — July 21, 2015

On July 30, 1987 Tabitha Nicole Matus began her life’s journey in Fremont, California. After a few years she came to live with her father in Salinas. She attended Alvarez High School enjoying all the same things that other girls her age do. She worked for a time at the Disney Store as well as Longs drugs, then the need arose to help her disabled father. She joined IHSS as a caregiver and spent the rest of her brief stay caring for his needs and being his constant companion in all that they did. They enjoyed going to the movies, playing computer games, watching Television and walking their dog, Sobe together. Tabitha and her Father were inseparable where you found one you found the other. In her spare time, she began to craft small knick-knacks, pieces of jewelry and painting water colored pictures which she attempted to sell on line. In order to facilitate these sales she opened a small online company called Mina’s Closet. But the business never really took off and she was forced to abandon the project for a time in hopes that an improving economy would take hold and she could try again. Tabitha loved all living things and hated to see any animal abused. She was an active member of PETA and donated a portion of her small salary to provide comfort for sick and abused animals. She was easy to laugh, loved to be hugged and to hug others. Regardless of the circumstances she held no grudges always trying to smooth over rough spots and bring calm and love into every situation. Once she saw a small flower pushing up through a crack in the concrete and was amazed at the persistence of life. Then, much too soon, her life’s journey ended suddenly and unexpectedly on the Morning of July 21, 2015 just 9 short days from her 28th birthday. She leaves behind her Father Paul, her Grandmother Rita and her Grandfather Ron. Her laughter and incessant chatter will be sorely missed by all who knew her. "Via Con Dios, our beautiful Tabitha. We will always love you". Dad, Gma,Gpa". Private family services were held. Cremation to take place.
