Betty Weaver Bowen

August 12, 1936 — June 1, 2026

Betty Bowen, age 89, entered her heavenly home on June 1, 2026. Betty lived a life defined by unwavering faith, selfless service, and deep love for her family, friends, church, and community. She was a woman of quiet strength and humble spirit whose kindness and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. The community will gather to pay their respects and celebrate Betty’s remarkable life with a visitation held at The Well at Centerville, located at 600 N Houston Lake Boulevard, Centerville, Georgia, on June 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. The final resting tribute will take place shortly thereafter at Parkway Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Stephen Bowen, Sr.

She was lovingly raised by William O. Beasley Sr. and Eloise Beasley, whom she considered her parents. She grew up alongside their children, who became her brothers and sisters in every way that mattered. Throughout her life, she treasured the love and support of both the family into which she was born and the family who raised her, remaining deeply connected to both. Betty worked faithfully throughout her life in a variety of roles, including positions with Betz Laboratories, serving as a CPA for Blanche’s Fashion Boutique, Houston County Water System, and Gas and Transmission Line. However, one of her most meaningful callings was serving as treasurer of her church for several decades, where her dedication, dependability, and servant’s heart touched countless lives.

Her greatest joy was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren beyond measure and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and hospitality, always filled with family, friends, and anyone who needed a meal, a listening ear, or a helping hand. She loved cooking for others and found great happiness in caring for those around her.

One of Betty’s proudest accomplishments was recognizing the need for a Methodist church in the growing city of Centerville. She went door to door gathering support and played an instrumental role in helping establish Centerville United Methodist Church. She remained an active and devoted member of her church, participating in numerous groups, ministries, and organizations.

She enjoyed sewing, tending to her flowerbeds, shopping, and spending time at the beach. Wherever she went, she carried a smile, a kind word, and a genuine concern for others. To know Betty was to witness true selflessness. She would gladly give the shirt off her back to someone in need, never seeking recognition or praise. In fact, she was often uncomfortable when attention was directed toward her. Her humility, generosity, and quiet strength were evident in every aspect of her life. She lived her faith not only through words but through a lifetime of service to God, her family, her church, and her community.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Bowen Jr., daughter, Alyson (Bob) Karlinski; grandchildren: Blake (Mary Beth Watson) Bowen Brooke (Caleb) McKeever, and Evan Karlinski; and one cherished great-granddaughter, Emersyn McKeever. She is survived by her sister, Mildred “Bobbie” Beasley Brown, along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews from the Beasley family. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Freida Hall, Janette Lann, and Linda Collins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stephen Bowen Sr., with whom she shared a devoted marriage from June 3, 1955, until his passing in 2010. Also, by her adopted parents; brothers: William O. Beasley Jr. and Luther Jefferson “Jeff” Beasley; sisters: Louise “Noogie” Beasley Hardin, Mary Helen “Totsy” Beasley Ross, and Margaret “Quinelle” Beasley Miller; biological parents, Jim Henry Weaver and Alice Naomi “Doshie” Peacock Weaver; stepmother, Nina Mae Cook Brantley Weaver; biological brothers: Clyde Weaver, Corris Weaver, and Gerald “Snig” Weaver; sisters: Mary Weaver Savage and Jimmie Sue Weaver Savage; and a host of nieces and nephews from the Weaver family.

She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be missed beyond measure. Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing that she is rejoicing in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, whom she put above all else. We celebrate a life well lived and a faith well kept.
