John A. Broyles Iii
May 10, 1934 — July 20, 2025
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understandings, in all your way acknowledge him and He will make your path straight."Proverbs 3:5-6
John "Doc" A. Broyles, III, a treasured physician and beloved family man, passed away on July 20, 2025, in Perry, Georgia, at the distinguished age of 91. A visitation will be held July 28, 2025 at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 AM. Pastor Johnny McDowell will officiate, bringing solace to all who gather to pay their respects. John will be laid to rest at Monte Vista Memorial Park in Johnson City, Tennessee, a final resting place befitting a remarkable life filled with compassion
and dedication.
Born on May 10, 1934, in Johnson City, Tennessee, John was a devoted servant to his community, dedicating over five decades of his life to the practice of dermatology. He completed his under graduate degree at the University of Chicago and his doctorate degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. John's journey in medicine began and he built a practice of 5 years. He then answered the call of duty and was drafted into the Vietnam War under the Doctor Draft Law. Despite the challenges of losing his established practice, his resilience shone through. Upon his honorable discharge, he poured his heart into rebuilding his patient base, practicing in Huntsville, Alabama, then Atlanta, Georgia, and eventually Warner Robins, Georgia. His patients and colleagues knew him not only for his medical expertise but also for his kindness, generosity, and consideration, attributes that endeared him to many.
A lifelong baseball enthusiast, John cherished the memories of listening to St. Louis Cardinals games with his father on the radio, creating a bond that would last a lifetime. This passion evolved into a love for the Atlanta Braves, reflecting not just his love for the sport, but the values of teamwork and perseverance.
As we remember John "Doc" A. Broyles, III, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a legacy of love, service, and unwavering kindness that will continue to inspire those who had the honor of knowing him.
Beyond his professional achievements, John was a devoted man. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, John A. Broyles, Jr. and Margaret A. Hull Broyles, as well as his late wife, Kathy Broyles. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jan Broyles, three children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished Godchildren: Mick, Anisa, and Allison Driggers. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, both in his medical practice and within his family.
