Michelle Mata, a beacon of warmth and joy whose friendly nature and boundless kindness touched all who knew her, passed away on May 4, 2026, in Warner Robins, Georgia. Born on December 13, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas, Michelle carried with her a spirit that was always happy and a heart that welcomed others with open arms and a comforting hug.
Throughout her life, Michelle was known not only for her affectionate hugs but also for the happiness she radiated effortlessly. She found great pleasure in traveling and spent many cherished moments by the beach, where she could revel in the beauty and serenity of the sea. These pursuits reflected her love for life and her desire to embrace the world with open eyes and an open heart.
Michelle leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory dear. She is survived by her mother, Irma Rios Mata; her brother Jay Mata and his wife Jan; her sister Diana Bartlett and her husband Lee; and her grandfather John Mata. She was also blessed with an uncle, John Mata, Jr., and a large extended family including numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who all felt the warmth of her presence. Her father, Juan Mata, preceded her in death, and she now joins him in eternal peace.
The community will gather to honor Michelle’s life on May 14, 2026, beginning with a Memorial Gathering at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Warner Robins, Georgia, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. This will be followed by an inurnment at Parkway Memorial Gardens, starting at 2:00 PM.
Michelle’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and the special comfort that a simple, heartfelt hug can offer. Her joyful spirit and generous soul remain an enduring light to all who had the privilege to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as someone who always brought happiness wherever she went.
