Richard Powers

My father, Richard Powers, was born on February 7, 1936, in El Paso, Texas, to Frank and Refugio Powers. He lived a life marked by dedication, service, and commitment to both his family and his country.

Dad proudly served the United States Government for a remarkable 45 years, including 22 years of active duty in the United States Air Force, followed by many years of civil service at Robins Air Force Base, leaving behind a legacy of honor and steadfast devotion.

Dad was as quick as a whip with jokes and as stubborn as an ox when he had his mind set. There was no better man to have in your corner as he would do anything for the people he loved. My Dad loved fishing, camping, and was a family man at heart.

He was a devoted Catholic at Sacred Heart Church.

My dad was married to Paulette Powers on October 2, 1965 until her death in July of 1989.

Dad was the third of five children born to his parents and had four children of his own. One daughter; Debra Cowperthwaite and three sons; Richard Jr, Jeffery, and Michael Powers. He also had several grandchildren; Alexander Cowperthwaite, Jessica Johnson, Karen Volveras, Jeffery Jr, and Nicholas Powers; with many great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Emory hospital, the Cancer Center of Central Georgia, and Dr. Aguila for their continued support and friendship.

A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
