Dennis Thomas Brady Jr
May 7, 1962 — Jun 15, 2026
Dennis Thomas Brady, Jr., age 64, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Dennis was born on May 7, 1962, in Carmel, New York. After finishing high school, he voluntarily joined the United States Army. He proudly served his country, wearing his favorite Army Veteran hat everywhere he went. As an Army Medic, he was stationed throughout the US and in Germany, earning several commendations for his dedication and good works.
After his military service, Dennis pursued several impactful careers that supported others, including working as a licensed commercial motor vehicle operator and licensed realtor, owning and managing a professional lawn care business, and serving as a phlebotomist. Whether a customer or a patient, Dennis completed all tasks with care and with their best interests in mind.
Although grateful for all his many blessings, Dennis’ greatest joy was sharing life with his brother, Dennis Oakes, and his niece, Bianca. No uncle could ever have fussed over her more or been prouder to have watched her grow and develop from an infant into a beautiful, intelligent young girl. He was her “Buddy.”
Dennis is preceded in death by his uncle, Patrick Brady, and his dear friend and confidant, Dolores Ross. He is survived by his brother, Dennis Oakes; his niece, Bianca Oakes; his father, Dennis Oakes, Sr.; his chosen family; and a wealth of friends during his time on this earth.
A military funeral will be held at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave., Bushnell, FL 33513) at 2 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Guests are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled service. Interment will immediately follow, in a private on-site ceremony. Arrangements were made by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services and the Marion County Memorial Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, Dennis’ family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Marion County Memorial Honor Guard, Inc.
The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the E.W. & Lucille Cates House, Hospice of Marion County, for their compassionate care.
